Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our Net Zero and decarbonisation services.

Carbon neutrality refers to balancing emitted and offset emissions, often achieved by purchasing carbon credits to compensate for total emissions. It doesn’t always require deep internal reductions. Net Zero, however, requires significant emissions reductions across your entire value chain first, and only then allows for offsetting unavoidable residual emissions using high-quality, permanent removals. Net Zero is science-based and aligned with global climate targets like the Paris Agreement.

Scope 1 includes direct emissions from sources your company owns or controls (e.g., fuel combustion in company vehicles or boilers). Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy like electricity, steam, heating, and cooling. Scope 3 encompasses all other indirect emissions across your value chain — from raw material extraction and purchased goods to logistics, employee travel, product use, and end-of-life disposal. Understanding and managing all three scopes is key to setting meaningful Net Zero targets.

Scope 3 emissions are often the largest portion of a company’s carbon footprint — and the hardest to control. We help by conducting a thorough emissions mapping of your upstream and downstream activities, identifying high-impact areas, and engaging with suppliers and partners. We support supplier training, data collection, and collaboration to co-develop reduction targets, low-carbon procurement strategies, and lifecycle improvements.

Net Zero targets are not universally mandated by law — yet. However, pressure from investors, supply chain partners, regulators, and consumers is making them essential for business resilience. In many sectors, especially finance, manufacturing, and export-heavy industries, Net Zero targets are quickly becoming prerequisites for market access, funding, and reputation. Early action also reduces future compliance risks and positions your business as a sustainability leader.

ISO 14064 is an internationally recognized standard for quantifying, monitoring, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals. It provides a transparent and structured methodology to measure emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 — which is essential for tracking progress toward Net Zero goals. It also enables organizations to gain third-party assurance on emissions data, strengthening the credibility of your reporting and public claims..
